About This Store

Habitat ReStore Houston: A Different Kind of Houston Thrift

If you’re into thrift shopping in Houston, ReStore Houston Habitat for Humanity is a spot you’ll want to check out. This isn’t your typical thrift store. It’s part of the Habitat ReStore chain, known for selling donated new and used building materials, furniture, and home goods. The proceeds go to funding affordable housing projects, which means every purchase here supports a cause beyond just finding a deal. That adds a layer of meaning to the usual thrill of a secondhand find.

At this Houston thrift store, you’ll find a mix of items: used furniture that ranges from practical to quirky, housewares in all sorts of styles, and occasionally some vintage pieces that catch your eye. It’s not just about furniture, though. There’s often a good selection of secondhand lighting fixtures, tools, and sometimes even books or decor items. You can expect to see items that are a little eclectic, reflecting donations from the local community, which keeps the inventory fresh and interesting.

Shopping at Habitat ReStore Houston is a bit of an adventure if you love digging through a variety of goods. Unlike a typical used clothing thrift store, this place leans more heavily on home-related items but every once in a while you might spot some vintage finds or textiles. It’s a great place to score a unique piece for your home or pick up supplies for a DIY project, all while contributing to a local cause. The sense of buying secondhand here goes beyond just saving money—it’s about supporting Houston’s community and sustainable reuse.

If you’re serious about Houston thrift, ReStore Houston Habitat for Humanity offers a refreshing alternative to the usual thrift store circuit. You’re not only hunting for quality used goods but also joining a bigger effort toward affordable housing. That’s a pretty good trade-off for spending a few hours browsing through their ever-changing stock.

Pretty cool stuff and priced to sell. Most sofas are 300 bucks! New cabinets priced at 75 bucks. Beautiful wall Art. Looks to be model home furniture. Can’t wait to go again. Come with a truck! You buy, you Load

This is equal parts thrift store/ furniture store/hardware store. New leather sofas alongside wheelbarrows . The staff is very helpful. They don’t offer delivery, but they will hold for 48 hours while you make arrangements. I didn’t see any used items. But floor, tools and a wide variety of furniture.

I used to go to the Re-store: Habitat for Humanity, off of Wayside Dr. and I'd find excellent hardware items for home renovations at great prices (since it's donated material). These great bargains help when your on a budget and wanting to repair, replace, or maintain your home can be very costly - especially in todays market. However, lately the prices for their donated materials and furniture have seemd to sky-rocket. Donated and used King sized (with scratches and even missing pieces) bed frames at $700 to $900? A used wood ottoman at $150? 100 sq. ft. of plastic adhesive sheets for wood laminate flooring at $30 a roll? Used doors from $100 to $200? Wood laminate flooring at $25 to $50 a box (usually 7 pieces per box). Donated kitchenware (such as brand new pans) at $75? What is going on here? These prices seem pretty high to me, but if I'm wrong, I certainly welcome correction. Here's a price comparison though. I got a used but in mint condition solid oak king size bed frame for a $100 - at Re-store same kind of bed for $850. I got two wood bedside night stands for a total of $40 - at Re-store $65 for one. I got a used wood media center, like brand new for $40 - at Re-store $150. And lastly, I bought brand new wood laminate flooring from Floor and Decor, discounted at $14.25 a box and plastic adhesive sheeting at $15 a roll - at Re-store their cheapest was at $27 a box and plastic at $30 a roll (for used, donated stuff!!). Not much of a bargain anymore Re-Store. I hope you change this and get back to the Habitat for Humanity mentality.

Just two or three years ago, I would come in here and find some pretty good stuff for decent prices. It’s a drive for me to come up here and I made the effort today and was SO disappointed. The prices have gotten completely out of touch of reality. Safe to say I won’t make this trip again.

Came in this morning, two ladies were sitting at the counter talking. I walk to get a basket which is right next to the counter. They say nothing just continue in their conversation. Saw a couple things but they already had sold. As I was leaving I again went to drop the basket off at the counter as two older women came through the front door, both ladies at the counter said "welcome in" & "good morning" and nothing to me as I left. Very rude and customer service is pick & choosy, not how people will want to support your business
