Goodwill Central Texas – Riverplace Donation Center stands out as a popular Austin thrift store that longtime locals keep coming back to. Being part of the Goodwill chain, it’s known for its well-organized layout and steady stream of quality secondhand goods. If you’ve spent any time thrift shopping in Austin, you probably know that Goodwill stores are reliable spots to browse a wide range of items without the chaos of smaller, independent shops.
At this particular Goodwill location, shoppers will find everything from used clothing and vintage pieces to furniture and housewares. The variety is pretty broad—there’s often a good selection of books, too, which makes it perfect for anyone who loves to sift through shelves for a good read. Vintage lovers can find some unexpected gems, especially if they enjoy mixing retro elements into their everyday style or home decor. The stock tends to rotate regularly, so no two visits are exactly alike.
What really makes this Austin thrift store a go-to is the balance between affordability and quality. Goodwill Central Texas puts a big emphasis on helping the community, which means proceeds often support job training and other local programs. That adds a nice layer of feel-good to the typical thrill of thrift shopping. The staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable, which makes the experience smoother whether you’re hunting for a casual outfit or a unique piece of furniture.
If you want to add some sustainable shopping to your routine or just want to explore Austin’s secondhand scene, this Goodwill location at Riverplace is a solid stop. Long-standing nonprofit chain with a range of pre-owned clothing, furniture, housewares & more.
This goodwill offers a wide array of hidden gems. I am particularly drawn to their book selection and variety. I spoke with Ken today and am always impressed by the teams 5 star service and work ethic.
Easy place to dropoff donations. The small size of the store, makes it quick and easy to dropoff items
Small little shop with nice clothes. Didn’t find anything that fit me but the price was right and I might come back to see what else they have
I came today 3.24 trying to find stuff to stage a house. I walked around the store and after 3 min I asked the guy who is working here, he identifies as D, about design books. His response was “ everything is everywhere “ and “ if you want a books go directly to Barnes and Noble”. Then he raised me his voice and i asked him why he was rude to me his response was “ I don’t care what you say “ then I asked to lower his voice and he told me “ bye, bye” and waved his hand to me. He is not customer oriented and his behavior was aggressive towards me. After I left the store he closed the door and hasn’t allowed a client to get in. 2 min ago he just allowed a guy in blue shirt to get in the store and closed the door again. D must be train in customer service and manners. He was RUDE and his behavior is unacceptable!!!!!
"We don't process returns here." What I was told earlier today by the team member at the counter. Despite this being a Goodwill Central Texas location with shelves and racks of items to purchase (so it's not a 'donations ONLY' location, and Goodwill's website saying "Present the item(s) with the attached tag and original receipt at any Goodwill Central Texas location."
