About This Store

Spokane Thrift Store Vibes at Buffalo Exchange

Buffalo Exchange in Spokane stands out as a favorite Spokane thrift store for anyone into thrift shopping that’s more about style and quality than just digging through piles. This location is part of a well-known chain that’s built its name on buying, selling, and trading used clothing and accessories. It’s not your average thrift store experience. The team is pretty selective about what they accept, so the racks tend to have a solid mix of vintage finds, trendy pieces, and some classic staples — all in great shape.

When you walk into Buffalo Exchange in Spokane, you’ll notice the focus is primarily on apparel. They lean heavily into clothes, shoes, and accessories, with plenty of vintage items sprinkled in alongside more current styles. It’s a place that attracts people who want to refresh their wardrobe sustainably without compromising on cool. Beyond clothing, you might find a few unique jewelry pieces or bags, but it’s not really a spot for furniture or housewares. This makes it a go-to stop for secondhand clothing lovers rather than general thrift store shoppers.

Because Buffalo Exchange is a buy-sell-trade operation, you’ll also see a rotating selection. That means every visit can bring something new. The staff is generally knowledgeable and happy to chat about styles or trends, which makes the experience feel less like rummaging and more like hunting with a purpose. If you’re in Spokane and want a thrift store that offers a curated mix of vintage and used clothing in a clean, organized setting, Buffalo Exchange is a spot worth checking out. It’s a reliable choice for Spokane thrift shoppers who want quality and variety without the usual clutter.

Great selling experience! Staff were friendly, check-in was easy, and selling process was very clear and straightforward. Buyer looked at each of my items and either offered a price or would explained why they wouldn’t accept it. Very fair offers. (I had taken some Frye brand boots to Plato‘s closet where they had offered me $5 per pair. Brought them to Buffalo exchange and they purchased them for between $25 and $40 per pair.) I wanted to use the credit in store so I was shopping in the store and the buyer came and found me to say that her manager had reviewed my items and they were actually going to pay me more for some of the items. I was impressed by that extra level of honesty. I found some really great items to purchase with my in-store credit. Overall, a very great experience and I will sell here again over any other local spot!

Not sure what the low reviews are for but I will offer my honest opinion. Place just opened 1-2 months ago and staff are understandably being trained. Manager and stylists were both very fair and helpful in making sure I was aware of their trade in vs credit policies when selling. I’ve sold to Plato’s years ago and would say they were comparable in what they want to buy (vintage). If you want to sell name-brand workout clothes I would recommend 4AM near GU just opened or Hut No 8. The manager was personable and explained that they buy for what is most commonly sold and there is a 2-month rotation. I was able to sell 2 of my items for in-store credit and thought this was a fair deal for what I got. Even watching 3 people ahead of me also get 1/4 of their items being bought out. I left the store with $13.75 in credit and $88 for 4 off-brand/unique items that I would say were 50% or more of what it would have sold from their website (i.e. Guess, boutique stores, Cloud Ten, Privy top which I didn’t know was 50% off). I was happy to see brand new with tagged Mountain Hardwear plaid shirts too. I can’t speak on what Goodwill carries but they try to find unique items that wouldn’t go to your classic Goodwill or Salvation Army. As you can see in the photos these are my finds I felt were unique and worth the deal!

I am so happy there is a Buffalo Exchange in Spokane! I fell in love with this store when I lived in Arizona- they have such a fun unique style and there’s always something great to find!! You can sell them clothes too. Prices are more than Value Village but for good quality and cool stuff. Right downtown Spokane by The Mango Tree, Madelein’s and across from Auntie’s bookstore. Yay for the Buffalo exchange! 🎉

While I usually find an item or two when I come in here, everything is marked wayyy up. If you want to pay $30 for a basic T, this is the place for you. Some of the employees are great and very friendly, and others passive aggressive and judgemental. It's uncomfortable, and really a coin toss every time you come here if it's going to be good or not. It's honestly better to find a thrift store. Your wallet will be happier, too. And for sellers, if it's not something you can picture a beige mom wearing, they won't take it. You'll make a better profit selling on Depop.

not to be a karen, but i felt racially profiled by the manager here when i brought my items in. she gave little to no explanation about why they wouldn’t take certain things and asked me a weird question about my Louis Vuitton heels that i brought in; asking if i tried to sell them before, like she was skeptical of the authenticity or me when i carried my proof of purchase from The Real Real to show her. i am not a scammer, please try and not treat me, a long time customer, like i am. i won’t be shopping here while that person is working. and the existing selection is very basic, uninspired and cheap, with very few nice items and niche items. the criteria for selecting clothes is out dated, with brands from walmart, target and shein vastly represented in the store and sooooo many basic items with few unique and cool pieces. and if you are a person of color, prepare to be held to a more scrutinizing standard than the white people who come here to sell… that’s all im saying
