Buffalo Exchange in Austin is a must-visit for anyone serious about thrift shopping in this city. This isn’t your average secondhand store; it’s part of a well-known chain that’s built its reputation on curated collections of used clothing and vintage pieces that appeal to all styles and ages. You’ll find a mix of trendy, classic, and retro items, which makes every visit feel fresh and exciting.
Austin Buffalo Exchange is especially popular because it offers more than just clothes. While the racks are packed with everything from denim and designer labels to quirky vintage shirts, they also stock accessories, shoes, and sometimes even small home goods. It’s the kind of place where you might walk in hunting for a jacket and walk out with a cool pair of boots or a funky vintage tee that you didn’t expect to find.
One thing that stands out about this Austin thrift store is how well they curate their inventory. Unlike some thrift stores where the quality and style can vary wildly, Buffalo Exchange tends to select items that are in great condition and on-trend or timeless. That means you don’t have to dig through piles to find something good, though the thrill of the hunt is certainly still there. Whether you’re adding to a vintage collection or just looking for affordable fashion with character, this spot nails it.
The vibe inside this Austin Buffalo Exchange location is casual and welcoming, with a friendly staff that’s knowledgeable about the items they carry. It’s a place where it’s easy to spend a couple of hours exploring racks and shelves. For anyone who loves secondhand shopping, it’s a reliable stop that balances quality, variety, and prices in a way that keeps folks coming back.

Hip chain that buys, sells, trades trendy vintage & used clothing plus accessories for men & women.
I would highly recommend! Awesome and friendly staff every time I go! They always give me good deals. And when selling clothes they give me fair money for them. It's always nice going there because of the staff being so nice. Thank you to the staff and Buffalo exchange! 😊
I love this store!!! It’s an amazing thrift experience but more curated than the average store so you always find amazing things in good condition! The selling option is amazing to get store credit, or maybe a little cash, to keep your closet fresh! The buyers can be selective but it makes sense when you see how much inventory they go through, and that they have to pay for every item of clothing. Always make a point to go and take friends! They also donate to amazing local non profits with clothes and money, BUT USED CLOTHING
If thrifting in Austin, check out Buffalo Exchange. Large, spacious, well organized. Prices comparable to other thrift stores in area. Decent amount of parking. Convenient to downtown and UT. Other shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend!
ZERO STARS if I could. This place pulled a bait-and-switch vibe over a literal piece of decoration. I grabbed an ugly Christmas sweater that had a ribbon/decoration attached to it on the rack, making it look like part of what you’re buying. At checkout, the cashier goes, “I think this might be a store decoration. Let’s see at the end if you’ll be able to get it,” like it was to be included. Cool, so I pay $75, transaction done, receipt printed… and only after she hands me my stuff, she casually says, “Oh, I can’t give you that.” So you let me spend my money first, then decide to clarify what I am and am not allowed to have? Over 30 cents of ribbon? It’s not about the ribbon; it’s about the dishonest, shady handling and the complete lack of basic customer service. Absolute joke. I won’t be back. Girl working at register looked high and does that fake sounding female voice. Also, the margin they are making on used clothes is borderline unethical. Don’t come here. U
I have very nice items with name brands, leather boots & leather purses etc.. everything is in good shape. this place is very insulting wanting to only give 25% of cash or I believe half store credit. also, you have kids in there making the decisions for the items are older than them!!! we are cleaning out our closet we don't need junk to take home with us. we should have the option to do both without getting ripped off!!!!!!!!!!! unbelievable. I will never go back. The prices are very high too. I took a jean skirt they rejected it about 6mo. later I decided to take a lot of other stuff along with the same skirt they wanted that item then. I had a lot of really nice vintage items in really good shape they only wanted to give me maybe $3 for, I had a pair of really nice women's cowboy boots they offered me $82 or $24 store credit. unbelievable!!!!!
