If you’re into thrift shopping in Mesa, the Val Vista & Southern Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center is one of those good spots to check out. This Mesa thrift store is part of the Goodwill chain, which is known nationwide for its wide range of secondhand goods and its commitment to community support. Unlike some smaller local spots, this one tends to have a large inventory that’s well organized, making it easier to browse through everything from used clothing to household items.
At this Goodwill location, you’ll find more than just clothes. It’s common to spot vintage pieces mixed in with everyday apparel. The furniture section, while not huge, often has sturdy pieces that can either be used as-is or revamped with a little creativity. Kitchenware, books, and home decor items are regularly stocked here too, so it’s worth popping in just to see what’s new on the shelves. Because it’s a donation center as well, the inventory changes frequently, which keeps each visit a little different from the last.
Used clothing is a highlight here, with a variety of styles and sizes that appeal to different tastes. Whether you’re hunting for casual wear or something a bit more unique, the racks at Val Vista & Southern Goodwill Retail Store can surprise you. Since it’s part of Goodwill, shoppers can feel good about their purchases supporting job training and community programs. For anyone serious about sustainable shopping or just looking to add some vintage flair without the markup, this Mesa thrift store is a solid stop.

I play a game, I will place items inside a back pack as if i dont know I am being watched by these young wanna be loss prevention kids. They will then, leave and run too the back or the front and find a manager, because they dont have any clue how to handle it if they do see someone stealing items lol. Picked a Japanese all steel bike paid $98, an Ice machine for $20 Posted some finds from here. Staff will set out one of their undercover lookers. They shadow any person with a back pack. Just look over your left shoulder and they will be right there..in your blind spot looking, that's what they do, and they will be one row up or down but always facing your direction. They were shades often, never have a cart and are easily spotted by just moving from a row. They will be right there, and if you look their direction, its so funny, they start moving items right in front of them as if they are not looking between the books at you lol
Fair selection of books, however not much for non fiction or computer technology. Plenty of dvds, vhs tapes, and music cds. Lots of clothes, lots of electronics (routers, computer peripherals) exercise equipment, kitchen appliances, and furniture. A couple of film cameras behind the glass case, but over priced for what they are. Not too bad, but not much to get excited over, unless you're looking for clothes, furniture, or basic kitchen appliances. I left empty handed.
Listen, this is a good store. But the AC is stuck on and it's FREEZING! We stopped shopping early because we were too cold. Please fix the AC and I'll change my review
Saturday 11/6/2025 @ 1:10 PM - As a 63 year old woman I asked to use the restroom. I was told they were being maintained by a slight balding young male employee. I could clearly see that they were not.
I was here about a few weeks ago just looking around for anything I could rhinestone as it's one of my hobbies. I'm walking down the aisle between the glasses/miscellaneous and of course, I'm walking on the right side to make way for other people walking past me coming from the opposite direction. I'm looking at the items to my right, there's 3 workers walking towards my direction, the one in the video as shown, and 2 others. They were walking side by side so taking up the entire walkway, talking and laughing. I continue walking just looking and if I move over anymore, I would definitely hit one of the racks with the glass on it, that's how close I was to the side. They didn't even try to say excuse me but the one in the video was on the right side of the 2 closer to me and nudged my shoulder, bumped into me to where I kind of lost balance and about 2 seconds later she says "How Rude!" And my fiance was walking behind me and he looked at her but before we could say anything she walked in the back area. Next thing you know, we are still browsing and she is mad staring at me and giving me suspicious looks, we probably had eye contact for 6 seconds straight. She was extremely rude. I was going to say something but I'm not the one to cause chaos, especially in this kind of store. Apologies for poor camera quality, was just leaving before thinking I might as well mention this on reviews :)) Hire better.
