I recently stopped by the Goodwill Donation Centre at Sherwood Mall and had a great experience. A young man named Ali greeted me with a big smile and kindly helped with my donations, explaining what items they can’t accept and suggesting alternatives. I’ve also shopped here before, and the staff are always friendly, the place is well organized, and it feels good to support a great cause.
There was a rack of Lululemon items that was obviously sifted through and separated from other “regular” racks because it was only Lululemon, I started to look through it and an employee came and snatched the rack away without saying anything - it was really off putting. I asked the cashier why they were separating Lululemon clothes and taking them to the back explaining my experience, she said it wasn’t just Lululemon (it was). They said it was only red tags (I did see this also happening) I had to keep asking for a proper answer - why they were sifting, what they did with them etc. I find it hard to believe a whole rack of Lululemon were “old” that they needed to get rid of. Even so - if I’m looking through that rack why not wait and make the sale if they weren’t selling? It was weird. I did find some nice stuff, but that experience has me confused.
Staff are rude and nasty. Don't dare touch a rack when they are adding stock to the floor. This is they only store where I have ever had a staff member snatch the rack away "you can't touch". I won't go back
I used to really enjoy shopping here, but a recent encounter with the female employee with dark brown hair left me disappointed. When I walked up to the counter and said hi, she didn’t acknowledge me at all. I tried to pay with Amex, not realizing it wouldn’t go through. When I asked if she could help me reset the payment, she crossed her arms, shrugged, and said, “There’s nothing I can do,” in a tone that made it feel like I was somehow offending her just by asking. It was a simple request, but she acted like it was beneath her to help, completely condescending and dismissive. I had to cancel the payment myself, and she restarted it silently, without a word. Most staff I’ve interacted with here have been polite and helpful, which made her attitude stand out even more. After reading other reviews, it seems I’m not the only one who’s had this kind of experience with her.
It saddens me to write this review, as I used to love this store and would shop here all the time. They always had a great selection of items and great prices. Many of the staff members I encountered here were very kind, but there was one female employee who seemed to always be there at the same time I was, and she always seemed to bring it upon herself to make me feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I also witnessed and spoke to other customers after she was rude and raised her voice with them as well, so this was not an isolated incident. I would love to give this person the benefit of the doubt, as I also worked retail at one point. However, harassing customers when they are not doing anything wrong is simply not okay, let alone on multiple occasions. For this reason, I do not shop at this location any longer.
