About This Store

Goodwill Stores Mesa: A Thrift Store Worth Visiting

Goodwill Stores Mesa is one of the more reliable spots for secondhand bargains in the area. This Mesa location is part of the well-known Goodwill chain, which has built its reputation on offering a wide variety of thrift store items while supporting community programs. Walking in, you’ll find everything from used clothing to furniture, housewares, books, and even vintage pieces tucked among the racks and shelves.

The selection leans heavily on practical, everyday finds. There’s usually a good mix of casual and workwear clothing—think jeans, jackets, and shirts that have plenty of life left in them. But don’t overlook the furniture section; the store often stocks small tables, chairs, and shelves that can be great for sprucing up a room without spending a fortune. The housewares section has a little bit of everything—kitchen gadgets, glassware, and sometimes quirky décor. For anyone who enjoys digging through books, the shelves tend to be well stocked with novels, cookbooks, and children’s books.

Goodwill Stores Mesa also draws in folks interested in vintage. While it’s not a vintage specialty shop, you can occasionally find retro clothing or unique accessories that add character to your wardrobe. Since this store is a donation center too, the inventory changes frequently—part of what makes shopping here interesting. If you’re diving into Mesa thrift shopping, this Goodwill location definitely deserves a spot on your list. It’s a dependable place to check for quality used goods while supporting a local cause.

THIS WAS INCREDIBLY INFURIATING, EMBARRASSING,AND BORDERLINE CAUSE METO GET OVER AGGRESSIVE DUR BLATANT SLANDER: at this Goodwill is a pattern of discriminatory and insulting behavior that management has failed to address. I am not simply reporting poor service; I am reporting a recurring, hostile environment created by your staff. As a loyal, frequent shopper (visiting three times a week and often spending $80-90 or more), the treatment I received today is merely the latest in a series of identical incidents perpetrated by the same employees. The main instigator of this harassment is a young, heavier-set male employee with distinctive bushy hair. This individual, along with his colleagues, has consistently singled me out and treated me with suspicion. Today, after being in the store for nearly 45 minutes, he initiated the intense surveillance, where I was openly "tailed" by no less than four employees. I believe this targeted scrutiny was directly related to unfair profiling concerning my appearance (carrying a backpack and a personal dental matter). This offensive behavior was so hostile that I was forced to abandon my full shopping cart and immediately leave the store. Let me be absolutely clear: My continued, considerable business is now permanently moving to the Goodwill store on Power Road and McDowell. To re-earn my loyalty, management will have to do something truly unprecedented and mind-bendingly incredible. Anything less is not acceptable. You have failed to retain one of your best and most loyal customers, and I demand that management investigate the harassing conduct of this specific employee immediately My cart had to be at least $1300 I intended on purchasing AT POINT OF CONCLUSING THIS REVIEW IT HAD ELEVATED TO 7 EMPLOYEES

Seriously 😑 who is in charge of pricing? You are charging $100 for a donated train set? Not in a box? Not worth it. Unbelievable. These prices are outrageous at a thrift store, not an antique store but a thrift store. You took away 50% Saturdays and you are charging department store prices for DONATED item! With these prices in your stores, I hope your employees are making more than $13 an hour.

So I was there today and among the items I bought I had a Puerto Rico shirt I found. The geriatric lady with long hair at the check out who is probably 80 had the face and the nerve to ask me if I wanted a senior citizen discount…. Well that’s great and all but I’m 49 and actually look younger than my age. So I told her it’s crazy to say that and she said, I mean you can get the discount at 55. I had to laugh it off because I was on my break from seeing my patients. The audacity for this senile lady to be disrespectful to a much younger person than her which I know it was because of my PR shirt. I almost asked if she was due for an eye exam but I wasn’t lowering my level to hers. Management please put her to fold some washcloths, it’s what we do at health facilities with some elderly people to keep them busy. She really needs to give up that job to someone that is not way over their retirement years.

Today me and my husband came into your store to shop and we witnessed one of your employees kicking a customer out. It was actually very sad. Your employee explained the night previously he had left some merchandise at the front but did not buy it. The customer explained he didn't have the money and that's why he was back today. The customer had a hand full of quarters ready to purchase what he couldn't afford last night. Your employee kicked him out instead. She did so very loudly and it caused a scene. I'm sure it was horribly embarrassing to be your customer, to have all that attention drawn to you. I honestly didn't find the incident very humanizing. This is Goodwill, you serve a community that does not have the luxury to afford everything they may so desire. Your customers are on a fixed income and sometimes they are unhoused. It was egregiously foul to watch one of your employees kick someone who was clearly struggling. Empathy. It's not hard. He was kind & calm. He tried to explain reasonably what had happened but you're employee chose to be a Grinch instead. I hope whoever is in charge of this location reads this and looks into this incident. That employee poorly represents the company & lacks human decency.

Half a year ago, this was one of my favorite Goodwills in the area. Recently however, it has suffered a compounding issue - overinflated prices, due either to a fundamental misunderstanding of the value of their donations, an indifference to whether or not things even sell, or a combination of both. A used pair of men’s Levi’s is $20, regardless of the condition. Many are stained or full of holes. You can walk next door to Ross and buy the exact same pair of jeans for $25 brand new. For context, you can go to the Goodwill on Stapley and Southern (4 miles away) and get this same pair for $10. This is just one of many examples of poor pricing in this store, and the results are clear: an increase in price leads to lower quantity demanded, which is why the racks are overcrowded to the point you can’t even look at what’s there. Again, this isn’t because the items aren’t good, it’s because they’re priced to the point where nobody wants them. Whoever is in charge of pricing needs to be retrained or removed entirely. I won’t be returning to this location for a long time, and neither should you.
