About This Store

Charlottesville Thrift Store Finds at Goodwill

If you’re diving into thrift shopping in Charlottesville, the Goodwill Store and Donation Center is a solid spot to check out. This location is part of the larger Goodwill chain, which is known nationwide for offering affordable secondhand goods while supporting community programs. In Charlottesville, this store carries the same vibe—helpful staff, well-organized aisles, and a steady rotation of items that keep the shopping experience fresh.

At this Charlottesville thrift store, you’ll find everything from used clothing to furniture and household items. The clothing racks often feature a mix of casual wear, work clothes, and sometimes vintage pieces if you’re patient enough to hunt through. Beyond apparel, there’s usually a decent selection of housewares—think kitchen gadgets, décor, and small appliances that are all pre-loved but still in good shape. If you’re into books, the shelves often hold a variety of genres, including some old paperbacks that can be fun to flip through.

What sets Goodwill apart is the way it balances variety with consistent quality control. While the inventory changes daily, you can expect to find items in good condition, often cleaner and more curated than many smaller thrift shops. It’s a go-to for anyone in Charlottesville who appreciates secondhand shopping but prefers a more structured environment. Whether you’re furnishing a new apartment or just need to refresh your wardrobe without breaking the bank, this Goodwill location is a dependable choice in the Charlottesville thrift store scene.

Always have great finds however the prices are often high for 2nd hand. Grateful tho that the baby/kids clothes & books haven’t changed in price as it’s the main reason I frequent!

They have a ton of clothes that are relatively organized and anything else you may be looking for. With the exception of access to a fitting room. They had three cashiers so there was no waiting to checkout and had floor associates as well to assist.

Its clean and well organized but thats about it, a ton of junk most of the time. You can tell they keep most of the " good" stuff to send to the online store and who ever dose the pricing for them right now is out of their freaking mind. They get this stuff for free and they are pricing like they are resellers. They will separately price matching sets, dollar tree items priced more than what they originally sold for, jam jars priced at 10 dollars!!! As someone who has shoped at thrift store litteraly my whole life I'm floored by goodwills behavior and I think I will start looking for alternative places to shop. If they are gonna price like resellers you may as well go to the cute local vintage shops.

Waste of time because you can’t try anything on. I saw some stuff that looked good, but when I saw that the fitting rooms were closed, I turned right around and left. I hope they consider changing this, because I love shopping at thrift stores!

Goodwill needs to be all the same, drove 1.5 hrs away to shop here to find out you can't try anything on and they make you buy bags. Richmond, chesterfield, henrico, areas do not! They actually let you try on clothes and provide bags! Do better.
