Wanted to give a shoutout to the girl working named Honesty. She was so kind and friendly and helpful when I came in!! She’s doing a great job! The store selection can be kind of hit or miss sometimes. There are some days where a lot of new clothes have come in and the selection is great and other days feel kind of sparse. I like the new layout of the store though, it feels more smooth and organized.
This used to be a good store along with Salvation Army. However, they realized people were coming in to buy stuff to resell online and so they figured they should raise the prices dramatically because of it. Now just about everything there is almost the same price as new items. This is supposed to be a store for charity, not price gauging. All because others were making money online off of it all, including myself. Now they don't get half the customers they once did because of this. BTW, it makes one wonder where the money is actually going and how rich the owners are considering Goodwill is supposed to be a non-profit organization. It should be taxed like a regular business now and not written off as charity.
I shop here often cause I love thrift shopping and don't have much choice as there aren't many thrift shops in Lawrence. However the management is TRASH. My biggest complaint is this is like 75% clothing and 9/10 if you come towards the bottom half of the day they are going to have fitting rooms closed. For instance ... I just spent 45 minutes browsing through clothing to be told I can't try them on. It was about 630ish PM and they close at 8. The excuse was "we only have 2 workers and can't keep up with it." Some of the workers have been kind and professional but a lot of them loudly walk around complaining about customers and how much they hate their job. Just awful energy in this place. I am sure they have lost SOOOOO much money from denying people access to try on clothing at a clothing store....
I showed up at 7:55pm to be greated by a young man letting me know they are closed... I let him know I just rushed across town to grab 1 item i know where it is. He rudely let md know they shut down the register at 7:50pm not 8! What so I guees google should modify the hours they are open ONLY TILL 7:50 PM!
I have donated a lot of stuff to Goodwill over the past year, but NEVER AGAIN. I’m very busy throughout the day usually, so I decided to drop some stuff off at Goodwill tonight after they were closed. I then see this sign! I’m amazed that a company that relies on 100% donations to survive is this petty about dropping items off after hours! I encourage everyone to find other places to donate their items! Thanks!
