Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin is a go-to spot if you’re into thrift shopping that supports a cause. This Elgin thrift store is part of the larger Habitat ReStore network, known for selling donated building materials, furniture, and home goods to fund affordable housing projects. You get the satisfaction of scoring quality secondhand items while helping the community, which feels pretty good at checkout.
At this ReStore, the focus is very much on home-related goods. Furniture shows up regularly, ranging from vintage chairs to practical shelving units. You’ll also find housewares like lamps, dishes, and sometimes gently used tools. It’s a little less about used clothing here compared to other thrift shops, but every now and then, a few apparel pieces make their way onto the floor. If you’re after books or smaller vintage finds, it’s worth checking in frequently since the stock changes often.
The inventory at Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin is a bit different than your typical thrift store. While you won’t find racks packed with clothes like you might at a dedicated clothing thrift shop, the focus on home improvement, furniture, and decor gives it a unique niche. Plus, the prices tend to be reasonable, making it easy to pick up some quality secondhand items without breaking the bank. For anyone who enjoys thrift shopping in Elgin and wants to give back a little, this ReStore is worth a visit.

There is a volunteer at this store that is there every Sunday named Rich the most nicest person in that entire place and he’s only a volunteer the staff there should learn from him how to treat people
Great place to get college furniture at a reasonable price. Some items are priced high but the majority is reasonable. They load it for you and take it off the floor for you. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Awesome place!! I furnished so much of my house with items from this ReStore. $50 futon with a queen size bed inside, $200 lazy boy couch with 2 recliners built in, and a matching $150 lazy boy recliner. Sometimes there are better deals to be had but their stock rotates pretty quickly so it's worth it to check every so often. The staff are all busy as bees but very friendly and helpful. Will be back again and again!
Great store. Huge parking lot with some handicap parking. The store is Walker friendly plenty of space to move around. This is a homeowner play ground. Staff is helpful. Place is not AC.
If you enjoy getting ripped off for used furniture then come here. Used cabinets for $225 Outdoor furniture $165 Bedroom furniture as high as $465 Idk who is pricing their items but they need to go work at Lowe’s. Stay far away from this location. Not worth the drive.
