If you’re ever in Visalia and want a classic thrift shopping experience, Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley should be on your list. This Visalia thrift store is part of the larger Goodwill chain, which is well-known for its mission-driven approach—selling donated goods to support job training and community programs. It’s one of those places where you can browse through racks of used clothing next to shelves of household items and end up with a bag full of useful stuff for less.
At this Goodwill, the lineup includes everything from casual clothes and shoes to furniture pieces that can be surprisingly solid. You’ll find kitchenware, books, and sometimes even vintage decor or collectibles tucked in among the regular inventory. The stock changes regularly, so there’s always an element of surprise when you stop in. The quality can vary, but that’s part of the charm—there’s potential to score well-cared-for clothes or unique furniture if you’re patient and willing to dig a little.
Shopping here also feels different because you know your purchases are supporting local programs. It’s more than just a Visalia thrift store that sells used goods; it’s a community-focused spot that turns everyday donations into opportunities for others. Whether you’re into thrifting for budget finds, hunting for vintage pieces, or simply looking to reduce waste, this Goodwill location offers a solid mix and a welcoming environment to explore. If you enjoy the hunt, it’s definitely worth stopping by to see what’s new on the shelves.

3 stars only because some employees here are hard workers and try to do their best everyday even though Goodwill is hard on them. Like in the summer, corporate doesn't like turning on the AC for that store SMH. I don't know what is going on in this store but their prices have been escalating every season. This jacket is an example. With these prices I rather walk into Marshalls or TJ Max. Let's not blame the resellers though. At least they pay for the items and some pay their taxes. Goodwill gets their hand picked donations for free. They also want to profit off of free stuff. Maybe that's why they're prices keep getting higher. But don't let me scare you away this is just my experience as a customer.
If I could give it a zero I would. There was an item with a cheaper tag on it and had a goodwill priced like $3 more. Cups are like $4 each nothing special I think this place it so overpriced for what it is
OVERPRICED! Went on 2/6/26 I never thrift and BADwill reminded me why I don't!!!!! They have become greedy with all the FREE donations they get! Alot of the clothes was super worn out and $4-15 a piece! Secondly, a MAJORITY of the trinkets/cups were priced $4.97 some employee got sticker gun happy and priced it $4.97. Im talking vases, cups, books, LOTS of broken toys, baskets that were super filthy! The real kicker was the Red Holiday Starbucks FREEBIE cups (plastic) priced at $2.97 & $4.97 even some without lids!!!!! INSANITY!
***CHECK YOUR RECEIPT*** I went in looking for nick nacks for a school prijcet I found a few items. I checked the receipt when I was home and saw they had rounded up my total as a CASH DONATION. Usually donating change isnt an issue if I am asked if I want to donate but I was never asked it was just taken. I understand goodwill needs donations but taking them from customers is not okay. I will be supporting other thrift stores instead. If over pricing everything wasn't bad enough, stealing definitely is.
I’ve shopped at the Goodwill in Visalia for years, and sadly the experience keeps getting worse. The management is awful and never makes customers feel welcomed. The environment is very hostile — you can see it not just in the way they treat shoppers, but also in how many employees come and go because of it. Many of the workers have negative attitudes, and the prices are way too high for a thrift store, which makes it unrealistic for a thrift store The only employee that has ever shown great customer service no matter what time of day or what day of the week is Bertha . She is always kind, helpful, and goes above and beyond with her customer service. She deserves to be up front as a cashier instead of being kept in the back working the donations . This store could be such a great resource for the community, but it desperately needs better management, better treatment of both customers and employees, and fairer pricing. This store should be helping the community, but instead it feels like it’s taking advantage of it.
