Goodwill in Bakersfield is a classic Bakersfield thrift store that’s been a go-to for secondhand shoppers for years. As part of the nationwide Goodwill chain, this location is known for its steady flow of donated items, which keeps the inventory fresh and varied. People come here not just for the used clothing but also for furniture, housewares, books, and even some vintage pieces if you’re patient. It’s that kind of place where you can find a sturdy dresser one day and a cool retro jacket the next.
Walking through the aisles, you’ll notice the mix of items—there’s a good balance between everyday basics and unique vintage finds. The used clothing section is usually well-organized, making it easier to spot quality denim, cozy sweaters, or even some branded items that still have life left in them. Beyond clothes, shoppers often check out the furniture area. It’s not just your typical hand-me-downs; sometimes there are solid wood pieces or quirky decor items that add personality to a space. The housewares and books sections can be gold mines too, especially if you enjoy hunting for practical items or a good read.
One thing about Goodwill stores, including the one in Bakersfield, is their mission. Shopping here means supporting job training and community programs, which gives an extra bit of satisfaction beyond just scoring a bargain. It feels good knowing your purchase is helping others locally. If you’re into thrift shopping, this Bakersfield thrift store is a dependable stop where the inventory changes often enough to keep things interesting but stays rooted in quality and affordability. It’s not flashy, just straightforward thrift shopping done well.

The store itself is nice and organized, but some items are far too pricey for items that are donated. The parking lot had a used dirty diaper I almost stepped in getting out of my car, and I told the cashier. They said the parking lot isn't something they are responsible for. I understand that but still, it was like 4 rows from the damn door. Ewwww
I used to go to the Goodwill long time ago from the beginning. One day I walked in and everything got remodeled inside. It was better the way it was it looked way better the way it was . Whoever took over this placed ruined everything. And I thought it was just me saying this No it's not someone else I know said the same thing about it. But the main thing I like to say is the price here is very high everything. I gone for years to lot different Thrift shops, not nearly as high priced as this one . I understand everything went up that's what they say. But common they get all there stuff for free . I give a lot of good stuff here drop it off free. And I am not saying sell it for practicly for nothing. 1 top blouse shirt should be instead of 14 dollars these Items should be 10 or less its a Goodwill. There all make there own prices the Goodwill Selivation Army there all high but this place there ripping people off . Places like this used to fun to go to . Not no more now it's like shopping at the Doller General. Goodwill are supposed to be cheaper to go to and not like a regular big name Store! I just went here recently, I haven't gone here since the remodeling. Prices went higher even higher again. Very disappointed. I talked to people there shoping said the something they agreed with me! .
They tried to say I was taking stuff from this store when I was trying to pay. So that makes no sense but after they kicked me out for no reason one of the employees followed me into the dollar store next door and started yelling at me that I just tried to steal from his work and I was a thift. But when my wife went went over to the store to say something about this rude behavior they said sorry and that I just look like someone that would be stealing. It's ao messed up that they profiled me like that because I have no need to shop lift from a thiftstore. So if u can do your best and take your business elsewhere. They are rude and I beleave that man should get fired.
Google states hours are 9 AM open time. The window says 10 AM and nobody opens the door at nine. This information needs to be updated, waste of time and gas.
Used stuff priced at regular department store prices, NO THANKS!!! I won’t be donating anymore stuff here either. I donated some baby stuff & I seen a pack of wipes that was among the items I donated priced at $2.99 ARE U SERIOUS!? Those wipes are $1.25 at the dollar store. Whoever is putting the prices on at this goodwill should be ashamed of theirselves for OVER CHARGING people for used items. This is suppose to be non profit organization for people that can’t afford the regular department store prices but not for this location because they’re charging what real department stores charge. Just go to the one on Mount Vernon.
