Thrift Shopping at a Gilbert Thrift Store

Goodwill – Retail Store and Donation Center in Gilbert is one of those classic spots for anyone into thrift shopping. As part of the Goodwill chain, it’s known for its steady flow of donated goods that range from everyday used clothing to vintage finds. Gilbert thrift shoppers often come here to browse a wide selection that’s refreshed regularly, making each visit feel like a mini adventure.

Inside this Gilbert thrift store, you’ll find more than just clothes. The furniture section often has solid pieces that can be given a new life with a little DIY. Went tonight for the 50% off sale. There was a long line to check out but a slightly shorter line at a different register, so I went in the shorter line. Multiple people checked out in this line, so it looked like there was two separate lines. As I was the next to check out, another cashier yelled from the register on the opposite side that there was one line and me and the people behind me needed to get in the back of the longer line. There was no direction on how the line works, not sure how anyone would know there’s only one line when the other line is actively moving. Doing this in front of the whole line was extremely embarrassing, I don’t see why it couldn’t have been handled in a more professional way. I don’t understand why this couldn’t have been communicated prior to a line being formed. A solid 5 people checked out in the line before anything was said. I have worked crazy sales in retail before, never would I imagine handling a situation that way.

Whoever was working the donations on 2/4/26 at 1:20 pm was very rude. The guy yelled at me just for stepping outside of my car with one car in front of me. He literally yelled and told me to get back in my car. I said I can’t be outside of my car?? I was simply trying to gather my bags from my back seat, they had been in my car for a few days and I didn’t know if things had fallen out of the bags, so was going to get them all tidy. Except I just get rude treatment off the bat. Very unprofessional, just one of the many reasons why I don’t shop at this location anymore.

Very unfortunate to have received the type of customer service I did coming from one of the managers of all people. First, she gave me a difficult time about doing a return and then ended up having me wait at least 5 to 7 minutes, just standing there. I went ahead and paid for the item I had while I was waiting because I was in somewhat of a hurry, and when she finally got around to doing the return, she gave me a hard time about whether or not I had already paid for the item after I told her I had. It wasn’t until the young lady who had rang me up said she had already done it. It’s incredible. How not only have the price is gone through the roof. The service is gone through the floor, at least from this store. It texted me the closest Goodwill to my home and my least favorite Goodwill to go to specifically because of this the customer service sucks.

I will absolutely never be shopping here again. The manager at this location is genuinely one of the worst people I’ve ever encountered. She acts like she hates her job, hates her life, and takes that misery out on every customer who walks in. She doesn’t just “manage”, she enjoys belittling people. Trying to make a return here feels like being interrogated. I bought clothes, and since they have no dressing rooms, I had no choice but to buy everything. When I tried returning 4 out of the 5 items (because they did not fit me) I was immediately accused of swapping tags with no concrete proof just an assumption. Nothing but attitude and accusations. It’s genuinely ridiculous and completely goes against their own return policy. And for what? Store credit? Why would anyone go through the trouble of “scamming” for store credit at Goodwill? On top of that, the prices at this Goodwill are outrageous. It feels shady, and honestly the whole place gives off bad energy. After reading the other reviews, it’s obvious this isn’t the first time this has happened…it’s a pattern. Corporate seriously needs to investigate this location and replace the manager, because the way she treats customers is unprofessional, uncalled for, and honestly embarrassing for the company. Do better and listen to your loyal customers.

You think that your only competition on discount tag days are the other early birds....nope it's the company who are having their employees systematically pulling xyz color tags before sale days. I dont blame the employees but it's a bit upsetting to go on sale days as soon as doors open and not a single tag of said color. But employees are pulling green tags today...I think the next sale is probably green tag.*update** i drove to the one on power and the comparison is crazy. The one on power not only has better more good will esque prices but they also have all tag colors !!
