Oxfam Bookshop in Brighton and Hove is a classic spot for anyone who enjoys thrift shopping with a purpose. This location is part of the well-known Oxfam chain, which many recognize for combining secondhand shopping with a charitable cause. When you shop here, you’re supporting good work around the world while browsing a carefully curated collection of items. It stands out from many other Brighton and Hove thrift stores by its focus on books, but it’s far from limited to just that.
At this Oxfam store, you’ll find an interesting mix of used clothing alongside an impressive selection of secondhand books ranging from novels and biographies to art and cookbooks. The clothing section often surprises with some neat vintage pieces; thrift shoppers who love sifting through racks for unique fabrics or retro styles will appreciate this. Beyond clothes and books, there’s usually some quality housewares and small furniture pieces, which reflect both practical and decorative tastes. It’s a spot that feels like a community hub for people who appreciate well-loved items with stories.
Brighton and Hove thrift shoppers know that Oxfam Bookshop offers a different vibe compared to the typical charity shop. It’s often quieter, giving you the space to really enjoy the hunt, whether flipping through book pages or browsing vintage jackets. The store’s connection to Oxfam means the stock tends to be more thoughtfully sourced and rotated regularly. For those who like their finds with a side of meaning, this Brighton and Hove thrift store offers that perfect mix of good buys and goodwill. It’s a place where the community’s love for secondhand meets a wider mission, all wrapped into one easy-to-browse experience.

The most genius ‘wanted’ sign drew me in and I’m glad it did. Wonderful bookshop. Lovely people running it. Love books? You have to check it out.
Great bookshop. Bought some books from there. Was a solid experience. Would recommend.
Oxfam Bookshop….shelves stacked with escape routes. Something for everyone and always a fair price. The joy of it is simple: you never know what you’ll find, but you always leave with more than you came for. We all love books they pull you into different minds, different worlds, strangers who suddenly feel like old friends. Step inside and you’re travelling without moving. A proper haven for readers.
We are great supporters of Oxfam - but very disappointed with the service just received at 4pm today from the young male who served us on the till. No greeting, no goodbye and no apology when he forgot to pack one of the books I had just paid for. Someone at the shop needs to train him in polite customer service, and tell him not to discriminate against customers as he was specifically polite to white customers at the same time.
Quite disappointed that the bookshop has chosen to put J K Rowling’s new book front and centre of the shop window display
