If you’re into thrift shopping in Calgary, Goodwill Chinook Thrift Store is a spot worth checking out. This location is part of the Goodwill Stores Calgary chain, known for supporting community programs through its sales. The focus here isn’t just on selling used items but also on creating opportunities for people by funding various social initiatives. It’s thrift shopping with a bigger purpose, which makes swinging by even more rewarding.
The store itself carries the usual mix you’d expect from a Goodwill but with some nice variety. You’ll find racks full of used clothing, including some vintage pieces if you’re patient and know what to look for. Beyond clothes, they usually have a decent selection of furniture and housewares that can help furnish your home on the cheap. For readers or collectors, there’s often a stack of secondhand books. It’s a great place to hunt for unique decor or practical household items without breaking the bank.

The staff are friendly and keep things tidy, which makes the whole thrift shopping experience more enjoyable. This is my favourite Goodwill in the city! I came to find a dress for a wedding and ended up leaving with 3! Sheila at the change rooms made it a lovely experience, helping me try them on quickly and answering any questions I had!
Honestly, the best experience I’ve had in a store is this Goodwill, all the staff is super friendly and helpful I’ve never had a bad experience. I had Sheila helping me in the fitting room today. And she went up and beyond to help me
I Always find something here.. needed or not. Most recent trip I found a plant pot and a puzzle for a total of $6. They have sooo many clothes and rows of home goods that you could easily spend a few hours here.
I love shopping at Chinook Goodwill. There prices and selection are great. The staff is so friendly and help ful. Carol stands out by always finding what I need. Shield always makes me laugh with her sparkling personality. See you tomorrow. 😁
I come to this goodwill because they have a better selection than other nearby stores in the sections I shop. However, they price things quite high - $4.50 for a bottle of bath and body works soap when they are under $4 at bath and body works currently. The staff at this location are frequently quite rude and miserable - especially Carol. Today she yelled at someone for leaving their cart “in her way” while they were shopping in a crowded book aisle. She shoved the cart out of the way, sighed loudly and muttered under her breath. Someone then asked her about the washroom and she rudely responded “give me a minute” and brushed her off. We all have bad days, but I certainly don’t get to treat people that way at my work.
