Great place for thrifting. Electronics section is a little better than I expected. I found a VCR and bought it. Say, it didn’t work and kept ejecting tapes. 14 day return policy worked and I got my refund. Well organized and clean store. You will be greeted upon entering and they will say bye when you leave. Friendly staff, too! Give them a try!
For a place that gets their products for free via donations, they sure charge a hell of a lot. Before I buy anything, I double check eBay listings and almost always I can find the same product in new condition for about the same price. If Goodwill was going to pay their employees a great wage then I'd 100% always buy items from Goodwill, but since they don't, I'll just take my business to a small eBay seller. At least until Goodwill gets back to their pricing roots of old.
I love going to this store, but lately I had to stop going in there. There prices have gone up, I've seen things in there that are higher than what it originally cost! But they just go up up up! I know everyone is going up! But come there prices are ridiculous!
If I could give this location a -5 rating, I would. I have shopped at Goodwill my entire life across multiple states—North and South Carolina, Indiana, Florida, Alabama, and more—and I have never experienced pricing or treatment like I have in Texas. The prices alone are outrageous, but the customer service at this Basswood location is what truly crossed the line. I purchased an ice machine for $55, which is already extremely overpriced for a donated item. Just after the so-called 14-day return period, the machine completely stopped working. I returned to the store hoping for some understanding or at least store credit, not even a refund. The manager, Gina, flat-out refused to help. What made the situation even worse was her attitude—she actually counted the days the store was closed for the holidays against my return window, as if that somehow made this acceptable. There was zero empathy, zero effort to help, and I was basically told “too bad” and that it didn’t matter who I spoke to, nothing would be done. This wasn’t a $20 item. These are donated goods, and customers are supporting a mission that’s supposed to help others. I always round up at checkout and continue to shop at Goodwill because I believe in that mission—but experiences like this make it very hard to continue supporting it. Completely disappointing, unfair, and unacceptable.
It is no wonder this store is a 3.7 and now it will be going lower the manager pricing store from 2010 that still uses a VGA cable for 5595 this is not a Best Buy. This is supposed to be Goodwill everything in that location is overpriced at least four times the amount it should be. It’s a wonder. This manager keeps customers because just down the road at the Saginaw location prices for the same thing or between seven and eight dollars. Something should be done about this manager because she is ripping off the entire community and I think that is just grossly wrong to do. I can assure you, I will never be back to that location and she was very rude about it
