Goodwill Topeka is one of the main stops for thrift shopping in this city, part of the well-known Goodwill chain that’s been around for decades. This isn’t just your average secondhand store; Goodwill is recognized for supporting community programs through its sales, which adds an extra layer of feel-good to every purchase. The Topeka location follows suit with a solid selection of used clothing, housewares, and more, making it a reliable spot for anyone diving into thrift shopping.
At Goodwill Topeka, you can pick through racks of vintage and contemporary clothing, from casual wear to pieces that could easily fit into a retro-inspired wardrobe. It’s the kind of place where you might stumble on a vintage jacket or a classic dress alongside everyday tees and jeans. Beyond clothes, this thrift store often carries furniture pieces – think chairs, small tables, and shelves that can be refreshed with a little DIY spirit. Housewares and kitchen items stretch across multiple aisles, so you can find everything from glassware to small appliances. For book lovers, there’s usually a rotating stock of paperbacks and hardcovers, making it a nice stop for affordable reading material.
Shopping at Goodwill in Topeka feels practical but also a bit like a small adventure. The inventory rotates frequently, so patience pays off. You get the added bonus of supporting a larger mission that helps local people gain skills and employment through Goodwill’s outreach programs. It’s a classic thrift store experience grounded in community care and thoughtful reuse, right in the heart of Topeka.

Long-standing nonprofit chain with a range of pre-owned clothing, housewares & more.
I was not much of a Goodwill Shopper due to the disorganized shelves and higher prices. That has changed over the past few weeks I have been visiting the Topeka Store more. It has been cleaner, more organized, and prices have been so much better. I have seen a new manager on the floor making it better. I can’t wait to see how much better it’s going to get with the new management coming in. Kudos to them for trying to bring this store back. Excited to see the Remodel happen!
A big store for not a lot of product. Prices on items were missing. Items are more expensive there then brand new at store! Then to top it off after we checked out our shopping cart full of stuff we found out they didn't have shopping bags and had to just throw all the stuff into our vehicle. Very inconvenient. But our checker out lady was nice, friendly, and awesome!
Decent selection of items but the checkout experience is so slow. Seems like every single cashier always needs something price checked. Don’t go here unless you have plenty of time to waste.
I’ve supported this Goodwill location for years because I value the community-driven, donation-based model it represents. The staff here are consistently kind and hardworking, and they deserve recognition. However, during my most recent visits, I noticed a significant shift in inventory. A large portion of the store now appears to be stocked with new or closeout-style merchandise — including jewelry, pet items, and household goods — rather than donated items. While I understand that retail strategies evolve, this shift changes the identity of the store. It no longer feels like a traditional thrift or donation center, but more like a closeout retail outlet. That shift may unintentionally erode the charm and community goodwill that makes thrift shopping meaningful. I hope Goodwill of Topeka evaluates this balance carefully. Many customers come specifically for the experience of finding donated treasures while supporting a charitable mission. Preserving that experience matters.
I have never experienced a manager being so horrible before. Rex was displaying absolutely disgusting behavior. The highest LACK of professionalism I have ever seen. I have never seen someone blatantly tell a customer they don't have time for them. I have never seen someone openly berate employees so hard. I have never seen someone been so HATEFUL that someone quits on the spot. And good for the person who did it because the way she was treated was absolutely disgusting. He only had three people telling him how horrible his behavior was and he sassed back. He gladly berated us all too. He didn't remotely care about being a professional. The way he treats everyone around him makes the whole environment toxic. I will be contacting corporate now that I have the information. There's no reason anyone should be allowed to stay when they make everyone hate being somewhere. Again, his name is Rex. He's a manager but not the head manager (Thank God). Be aware when you walk in that he should be avoided. Even a horrible day doesn't excuse treating people the way he did. He also openly took a personal phone call to complain about events in front of God, customers, and staff as if he was above it all. Again, disgusting behavior beyond what I've seen anywhere
