If you’re into thrift shopping around Athens, the Athens Salvation Army is a solid spot to check out. This isn’t just any thrift store — it’s part of the well-known Salvation Army chain that’s been around for decades, helping communities by reselling donated goods and supporting local programs. The vibe here is practical and straightforward, with a steady stream of used clothing, furniture, housewares, and even books. Because it’s a Salvation Army, you often find a mix of vintage and contemporary items that have been carefully sorted and priced.
The aisles are a little like a secondhand market where you can dig through racks of used clothing that range from everyday wear to pieces with a bit of retro flair. Beyond clothes, they usually have furniture that could work for updating a room on a budget—think sturdy chairs, small tables, and sometimes larger items like dressers. Kitchen gadgets, dishware, and decorative housewares are also common finds. If you enjoy flipping through books as part of your thrift shopping routine, this place tends to have a decent selection, which varies week to week.
What’s nice about the Athens Salvation Army is how the store feels connected to the community—not just a retail spot but part of something bigger. Shopping here means supporting a chain known for reinvesting in its services and outreach. The inventory changes regularly, so it’s worth dropping by often if you want to spot vintage clothing or unique household items at a fraction of retail prices. The store balances the classic thrift store hunt with a well-organized layout, making it easier to find solid secondhand goods without the chaos sometimes found in other thrift spots.
All in all, the Athens Salvation Army is a dependable choice for thrift shoppers who appreciate variety and a place that stands for more than just selling used stuff. If you’re exploring Athens thrift options, this location deserves a regular visit.

I love to go here they have thrift store prices and are always organized
this is by far the best thrift store I have been to. very fair prices and the selection of items is amazing. All the staff members have been nothing but nice to me every time I have been in there. The store and restroom have always been very clean. definitely 5stars AMAZING place
It’s a decent Salvation Army store, the layout was a bit unusual but there was a decent selection of stuff to look through.
They keep their store really neat & organized. Their employees are all really nice but they don't seem to get enough training. The past 2 times I've been there it took about 10 mins to ck our 2 people with 2 items each because the poor guy had to keep stopping & asking someone how do diffrent tasks.
They have maybe a 1-2 racks of men’s clothing and probably 8 women’s . This place is a joke . It’s seems they are keeping donations from the public. What happened to restocking every day? I can’t even go every day because it’s the same junk nobody wants from the weeks prior. They should remove the stuff nobody is buying and replenish like every other store . The racks are bare with plenty of space for men’s clothing but nope they don’t seem to care
