The Savers in Taylorsville has some great deals! I am always able to pick up a nice suprise when I go. They have a vast selection that changes regularly so there is always something new.
This savers location is currently under some construction (7/3/24) but do not let this sway you from entering. The unique finds I came across in every department/part of this store was awesome! I don’t know if I just came on a good day, since this was my first time at this particular location, but I was impressed! Amongst the exciting, thriftable finds were vintage art collectibles, unique paintings (quality work, not a random college student that got lucky once), vintage sewing machines, well-kept record players, a Panasonic boombox (that worked when plugged in), awesome lamps (with the shades in tact and without wear & tear), a good selection of sporting goods, seating/furniture, electronics that powered on and light fixtures that had been kept for many years and were one-of-kind pieces from past eras. The women’s and men’s clothing and shoes, accessories, etc. offered clean, trendy duds for varying interests across the board. I found the jewelry and book sections most impressive, as the selections were extensive and dominated most of my time. The literature that I came across, and more so than not, was comprised of intellectual work, and not just filled with garbage books no one wants for their toilet reading, worst case. Both departments set the items price points fairly, overall and the jewelry was comprised of ornate, beautiful pieces with all body parts considered- this was exciting to peruse through. I ended up purchasing 7 books, and after 4 you get the 5th free. What I found most pleasantly surprising about the books available were that there were more than just Utah cult religion, to my pleasant surprise! Additionally, the store was tidy, organized and well kept. Overall, this was one of the best savers I’ve been to in Utah.
I’ve been going to this store for years. Prices are reasonable and rarely overpriced. Seems like a lot of people don’t like the no Public restroom policy but it used to be extremely scary as I remember lol. Just might be for the best.
Marked up for Christmas!? Take something to donate! Do not go here without using coupons! Prices high. You will be given a coupon if you donate something. Some of the worst thrift store PRICES I ever have seen in my whole entire life! Five or six dollars for a book! That's used bookstore prices, most of these books would be in the dollar bin at the used bookstore. It gets worse, used discolored and stained plastic bins for 9.99! I went across the street to Dollar General and they were practically the same exact price and NEW + the ones from SAVERS needed a lot of cleaning. I can't help but feel like this is owned by privileged people who are just sending slavery back to the poor because of their privileged ideology. I felt like I was at one of those yard sales where an 80 year-old sells everything for a 50% markup because it has emotional value to them. Who owns Savers now? Who would make the poor pay more for thrift items than shopping at Walmart or Dollar General? Crazy. The only reason I gave it an extra star is because there are a lot of coupons and it creates incentive to re-donate stuff rather than throw it in the trash... their system would be more digestible if maybe they put up signs explaining it. I am very outraged at these prices. From now on, I'll go to Dollar General or Walmart for half of this stuff… I know I use Amazon for used books because they would be in better condition. I'll give them one more star because to be fair. Maybe they're competing with Facebook Marketplace…
I bought some pants that ended up not fitting because they have zero changing rooms. Got BED BUGS from a sweater, and when I returned they refused refund or store credit only exchange. and its all an awful price. 15 bucks for certain pairs of jeans.
